”Mona Lisa” – our interpretation of Leonardo da Vinci’s world famous painting from 1503 (finished in 1506).

The portrait was ordered by a wealthy Florentine merchant, Francesco del Giocondo, who wanted a portrait of his young wife, Lisa Gherardini.

However the finished work was never delivered to Giocondo. It stayed with Leonardo da Vinci till after his death in 1519.

Instead it ended up in the Franch Royal Collection at Louvre, Paris in 1519, where it is still on display today.

Mona Lisa is estimated to be, by far, the most valuable painting on the planet today (insured for $800 mio.)
